Seafood and Maritime Training (SMT) is a not for profit Registered Training Organisation (RTO) based in Salamanca, Hobart, which has been providing training for the Tasmanian Seafood and Maritime Industry for 35 years. With the support of the industry, SMT has grown to become one of the largest providers of training to the Seafood and Maritime Industries in Australia

About the role

We’re looking for a Training Officer whose primary objective will be to deliver, promote and support high quality accredited training services to our current and future clients. This training will be primarily within Aquaculture, although the successful applicant will also need to be able to support the delivery  of maritime license training.

Your responsibilities in this role will include, but not be limited to:

Deliver training activities
Conduct assessments, marking of candidates evidence
Recognise participants’ needs and identify appropriate support
Participate in the validation and moderation process
Conduct ‘on the job’ assessments
Map resources and assessments to relevant training package
Assist with course development and writing of materials

SMT will also consider contributing to relocation expenses depending on the level of experience a successful candidate brings to the role.

Location:

SMT offices and training rooms are located in Battery Point, Hobart.  We also deliver training in regional locations in order to meet the training needs of these communities.

About You:

Do you love working with people and being on the water?

We are looking for people that have a combination of the following attributes and qualifications:

Current TAE40116 or TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, or the ability to undertake prior to commencement.
Demonstrated experience in the Seafood and Maritime Industries, and working on the water
Current drivers licence
A demonstrated interest in working with people and a desire to make a positive contribution to their learning journey
Demonstrated ability to prioritise and meet deadlines, high level of time management including managing multiple tasks
Ability to work autonomously and independently
Ability to work in a team to meet high workflow requirements
High-level communication, IT and literacy skills
Australian Residency
